The end of the year is usually the most busy part of the year. It can be either busy with fun-filled activities or work-filled activities. It is always a busy season. The joy of the season saturates the atmosphere. Lots of traveling and merrymaking, reunions and partying, buying and selling. All these and many more are features of the yuletide.
However, applying wisdom is the principal thing and getting understanding is important. The end of the year is actually a time to number our days so that we can apply our hearts to wisdom. It’s a time to take inventory of all we have been provided with. It’s a time to count our blessings, name them one by one, and give thanks for each. It is a time to check our “store house” and see what we have used up so that we can order for a new stock. It’s a time to know which stock you ordered for, has not yet reached you. Most importantly, it is a time to place orders for the coming year.
Do not be carried away with activities, always take some time off to program the New Year, get inspired on how the year should go and to receive the map for the New Year.
Make plans for the New Year. There’s nothing wrong with drawing out a plan for the year. Write out the things you want to achieve. Set some goals and pen down possible ways of achieving them. Do not begin the year without plans for it. Luke 14:28NLT: “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”
Then place your plans before the Lord in prayers. Proverbs 16:3NIV: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” End of the year prayer programs are a good way to end the year. Birth your desires in prayers, hours of intercession. Release the creative power of the Holy Spirit to bare over everything you desire for the New Year. Unlock all the resources needed to establish the plans and enforce God’s will over your desires.
Restitution is also an important preparatory step. Write down a list of people you probably have done wrong to and restitute. Forgive and make sure you are forgiven. Enter the New Year with a conscience void of offences. Let go and let God. Approach the season with a clean heart and a right spirit. Pay your debts. Drop every grudge and take off every burden. Forgive so that you will be forgiven. Cleanse your way, wash your hands and tongue, be in right standing with God, set your heart ready for the blessings of the year.
Praise praise and praise. Be like the psalmist in psalm 100:4-5KJV: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
Praise your way into a victorious New Year. Praise Him for the past years, praise Him for the ending year, and praise Him in advance for everything you anticipate Him to do.
Be wise, don’t just rush into the year. Prepare for it.
Seasons greetings.
