Your gates are the entrances into your mind. They are mainly your ears and your eyes. They are key because they help process all the other senses rightly – smell, taste and touch. Allow only truth through these gates. | Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. – Proverbs 4:23(AMP) The mind is one of the most powerful parts of the soul. It is where thoughts are conceived, analysed and processed (which can take less than a split second to a good number of years) before being acted out. The mind stores more data and information than any known computer or device in human history. No matter how inconsequential or fleeting the information is, your mind absorbs it, stores it up and waits for the appropriate time and condition to be used. Therefore, let’s see why your mind needs to be rightly engaged and how it can be. God Judges Intents I the Lord search the mind, I try the heart, even to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. – Jeremiah 17:10(AMP) Don’t be fooled into thinking God judges only your works and services to Him. That you’re a worker in your local assembly, pay tithes and offerings and spend time looking the part as a Christian doesn’t equal to being godly or right with God. God looks way beyond these things by judging the intents and motives (in your mind) behind all your actions. Is your mind right, sound and clean? You can fool man, but you can never fool God! |
But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. – 1 Corinthians 2:16b (AMP)
At salvation, you were not just given access into the mind of Christ, you were given the ability to think and be like Him. No matter how polluted you think your mind is, God’s word is potent enough to purify it. Take time to study and meditate on the Word. Before you know it, your thoughts (conception, analysis and process) would become right before God. This also means your actions (which are a product of your thoughts) would be right.
Watch Your Gates
And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [a][of thought and study] you give [to [b]the truth you hear] will be the measure [c][of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear. – Mark 4:24(AMP)
Your gates are the entrances into your mind. They are mainly your ears and your eyes. They are key because they help process all the other senses rightly – smell, taste and touch. Allow only truth through these gates. Make a conscious effort to block out anything that remotely contradicts Christ and what He stands for. Stop watching those movies, drop that book, unsubscribe from that blog, unfriend that person, delete that file, stop going to that place and focus on things that edify your spirit, soul and body. The truth would improve your mind.
