As a believer, Jesus commanded you thus:
19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations[help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always[remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion],even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 20:19-20(AMP)
Your first role is to go out. Go out there and tell people about Jesus Christ and the promise of the Holy Spirit over all those who believe. It is not your duty to be people's task master. You are to baptize them in the name in the Holy Spirit as well, not replace that role in their lives.
You may be wondering and asking yourself:
I just can't let this person behave how they want. Is it wrong to point out their wrongs? Didn't scriptures say we should correct our brothers?
That is indeed true. However, you need to ask yourself what your true motives are. Don't deceive yourself. God sees and know your deepest and innermost thoughts. So when you reflect on your need to put others in place, be sure you are doing it with the right heart and motive. If not, you might as well be competing with the Holy Spirit in the life of that person and even in your life.
You need to always remember that the Holy Spirit resides in the life of every single believer. His presence and role is never a dormant or repressed one. He is there as a guide, helper, enabler (John 15:26). He is the spirit of truth, power and soundness (2 Timothy 2:7). Therefore you need to trust that God is at work in other believers life. This is not to say that when you see others doing wrong, you keep mum, no! This is just to make you sensitive to God's workings.
As for your personal life, never doubt the workings of the Holy Spirit in you. Never try to take up His responsibility especially when you fall short of God's expectations. He has promised never to forsake you. All you need to do is acknowledge/confess those sins and receive forgiveness from God (1 John 1:8-10). He is ever there to help you up, pull you through that issue and walk you in the path of righteousness. All you need to do is to keep your focus on Him. Read, study and meditate on God's word. Pray more in the spirit - both in your understanding and in other tongues. By doing this, you are building your spirit man up thereby submitting to the work of the Holy Spirit.
20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit; - Jude 1:20(AMPC)
Give the Holy Spirit His way in your life and in the life of others. Remember, you are not the Holy Spirit.
Have a blessed week!
